Small Town USA - Voting 2008

Posted by lcecchini on February 6th, 2008

When I voted in Chino Valley on 02/05/2008, I found the lines were long, but very friendly. At 4:00 PM, the wait time was in excess of an hour. A local area radio station was reporting unhappy voters in Prescott and Prescott Valley that were complaining about the wait and were being rude to the volunteer poll workers - NOT IN CHINO VALLEY. No one likes to waste time standing in line waiting, but the Chino Valley voters were cheerful and either talking about Chino politics or using the wait to read or take care of some work. However, I didn’t hear any serious complaints or see anyone leaving without voting and I didn’t see or hear any rude treatment to the volunteer poll workers who were obviously tired from a long, long day.

As one woman put it, she was happy to have the health to be able to stand in line for an hour and she appreciated living in a country where she was able to vote. She also mentioned our being lucky enough to live in a country where it is safe to wait in line to vote. How quickly we have forgotten what the Iraqis had to endure just to be able to vote.

Thank GOD for our being lucky enough to live in the USA!
